Quarterly Statewide COMEX Operation Green House

The exercise will start Saturday at 0900 June 19th and run till 1400.  We will continue to train on Winlink and message handling.  Bushmaster Operations will be net control and the interface to the SEOC.  We use the standard Freq Plan ICS 205 found on the ARES Website, KL7JFT.org.

If you do not have Winlink operational yet, contact Don/KL7JFT and he will work assist in getting you operational.  In the interim we will have 147.33, 147.30, 146.85, and MATSU DMR 443.8 TS1 CC 1 TG 3102, SKY WARN Members can use the AK Skywarn TG.  3.920 MHZ will be the Guard Freq for Net Control. CW traffic will be monitored by Ed/AL7N on 3.940 or 7.113 MHZ our of Fairbanks.

Traffic Msg format for Supported Agencies will be via AK ICS 213, all other traffic will use the ARRL Message Format. Traffic can include weather reports, road reports, avalanche locations, health and welfare traffic.  Info all traffic to AD4BL/Linda, our AK SEC, also include "EXERCISE EXERCISE" in your subject lines of the message and voice comms.

MARA 2022 HAMFEST

Our date is set for 11 Sept.  Setup time is 0900 open from 1000-1600. The location will be the Big Lake Lions Club, at 2942 Lions Cir Big Lake.  Map below.

The Vice ARRL Northwest Director, Mark Tharp/KB7HDX has confirmed his attendance.  He is also a DXCC checker, so if you have QSL cards you would like to submit for that award, he will be able to do at the hamfest.. He will be bringing a lot of new ARRL and Ham radio info with him and wants to get our opinions on various items. We have Satellite presentations and VHF/POTO/SOTA and Winter Field presentations on the schedule.

Entry is $5.00 at the gate and 1 door prize tickets, additional door prize tickets will be a $1.00 with max of 10, Tables are $10.00 reserve them thru John/KL1XM, we still have tables available but are filling up quickly. The Barbee will be $5.00 ea. A special door prize will be an ICOM 2720H Analog, dual band VHF/UHF transceiver, just completely refurbished by the factory. 50/35W output and removable faceplate. Full band receive, Ham band transmit. 1 door prize ticket per person for $5.00. It is programmed with all the local frequencies/repeaters. Please note: for all door prizes you must be present to win. The grand door prize will be a round trip tickets for 2 on the train to Denali and back, starting at Anchorage.

We need volunteers to help on various tasks for the hamfest.  Please contact Chris/KL5BF to volunteer.  Will need VEs to conduct testing at 1300, will need folks at the gate and the MARA Country Store, setup and tear down crews. Folks can bring side dishes and desserts if they desire. Remember if you need a letter or tax receipt for your door prize you’ve collected, let us know. Please turn in all door prizes into Pam/KL3PAM.  Pandemic protocols, as appropriate, will be in place. Hand sanitizer station, and optional face masks will be available, especially for those not fully vaccinated.

This will be the 40th annual Motley Group picnic.  There are typically 60 to 80 attendees, most of whom are members of the Motley Group, Snipers Net or Alaska-Pacific Emergency Preparedness Net, but ALL amateur radio operators and their families are welcome to attend.

Fish, hike, chat with other Hams, and participate in as many of the following scheduled activities as you choose.

THURSDAY, 1700 - SOCIAL HOUR - Bring snacks and beverage of your choice.

FRIDAY, 1130 - LADIES PICNIC - Ladies only, (potluck) - campground pavilion.

FRIDAY, 1700 - EARLY BIRD DINNER, (potluck) & CHINESE AUCTION
Bring food and item(s) for Chinese auction.

Motley Group will keep 25% of the sale price, and you can specify a reserve price if you choose.

Or, you can donate the item and the Motley Group will keep 100%.

SUNDAY, 0900 - PANCAKE BREAKFAST - (NOTICE:  BACON NO LONGER PROVIDED; BRING YOUR OWN PRECOOKED MEAT IF YOU CHOOSE.)

DOOR PRIZES AND AUCTION ITEMS - There will be hundreds of dollars' worth of radio equipment and accessories available as door prizes and auction items.

SWAP & SHOP - Bring Ham radio related items you wish to sell or trade and display at your campsite or at the Motley Group site #11

Camping fee is $30 per night for RV sites which include water and electricity; showers, laundry, etc., available in campground.  This is a discounted rate for Motley group picnic attendees.

MARA 2022 ANNUAL PICNIC

MARA's annual picnic will be held at the Lake Lucille Rec Area on the 16th of July at 1000, it will be in Pavilion A.   We will be having our usual Barbee, we need a grill and chief cook.  We ask folks to bring a side dish, MARA will supply the Dogs, Cow, Buns, Condiments and Water.  We will have door prizes.  There is a very large field and play ground, good for flying drones if you are interested. There is a great dog park that the dogs will enjoy running and playing. Those that have ordered coffee cups in the past please stop by and pay for them and pick the up.   If you are interested in a VE Session, contact Ken/KL2HF, other wise it will be the following Saturday.  Bring a chair and if bad weather a picnic cover.  We will have picnic tables in the Pavilion.
